Hi Ross. Glad the feeding went well and the parents accepted them back. Good luck! And keep us posted. I loved your video showing the chicks begging for food!

Re: Healthy Gouldian chicks?
Careful with giving just water, there is a chance you can aspirate a chick with just water... it is best to add a tiny bit of formula and make it the right consistency instead of giving just water... pedialyte is good to have on hand when trying to hydrate young, you can mix it with the formula. Get a small bottle to have on hand just in case.

Sorry for the lack of updates; I've been fighting flu and slight pneumonia for the past week.
Well, I'm happy to report that all is going very well for my four new feathered friends. I'm trying to upload an update each day to Youtube, and you can see all the updates here:
Four Gouldian babies
They are all quite noisy now when begging for food, and are starting to hang their cute heads out the nest entrance. Parents are doing a wonderful job indeed; check out the humongous crops:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WksxD9P8bFI
And I wrote this as a note to one of the videos so I'll just copy/paste it here rather than retype it all:
I withdraw my accusation of chick abandonment by the parents (sorry mum and dad). They've been repeating the same process each day, leaving the chicks in the nest overnight and feeding them continuously during the day and early evening. I checked each chick's body temp each night before bed and they were all fine, despite having no feathers, so obviously they are maintaining their body temp via the nourishment they receive each day. So no abandonment, but they were perhaps a day too early in leaving the chicks to themselves overnight.
By the way, this "Digital Infra-Red Thermometer with Laser Sight" has saved my butt quite a few times now. Fantastic for checking chick body temps, incubator egg temps, baby food temp, water temp, etc., etc. At around $20 the price is right, and it has worked well for me (but your mileage may vary):
Digital InfraRed Thermometer with Laser Sight
Thanks for all the advice and comments, as always!

Hey Ross.
Hope you're feeling better. Flue and Pneumonia ! Not a good combination.
Babies are looking great. Holy crow, look at those crops!!!
They look like tiny stuffed turkeys
.
How old are they now?
Take care, and get better.
