I love hearing when a foster does a good job but hate to hear about when they don't. Sorry you lost your babies Donna. I had a terrible time with my Societies that I used to have and they wouldn't even raise their own babies so I was scared away from them. Sounds like your baby is an Owl as they are quite loud beggars and it probably just got fed most of the food. I hope it continues to do ok for you!

These society finches have never refused to feed before. Don't know what happened this time.
I don't really know what to do about my bccb. They keep on trying to breed. I have taken down all the nest in my aviary except for the ones in use...... they built a make shift nest in a tree and laid two eggs before I realized it. I have taken the nest down and tossed the eggs. I may give them a chance to try again, but since I have so many babies right now I really don't want to fool with it at the moment.

I did confirm that the baby in the nest with my society finches is an owl. It has already begun getting the owl markings. Will get a picture soon.
They are so cute!

He is about one week from fledging. That isn't the best picture, but he is adorable! I just love to see baby owls. I think they are my favorite babies.

I agree they are the cutest!! Very sweet looking Donna, congrats! I have handfed quite a few of those sweeties and love that age. We had one named Hoot that we absolutely loved. She died of egg binding at 8 months old. We were sick! Good luck with the baby Donna!!
