nests

Post by mohum » Mon May 30, 2016 3:01 am

I have room in my aviary for another clutch and have re-introduced a nest. The problem is that there are 4 females. Will they have to compete for the nest? I don't have room for them all to breed and was wondering how to handle this. Any suggestions welcome.

You could screen off part of the aviary, or simply provide them with the nest and nesting material and let them work it out.

I put in 2 open nests and my lone canary bagged one of them and is sitting on 6 eggs. This was a bad idea so I then put a wicker nest in and no one seems to want it so I'm thinking of getting a male canary instead. The problem is that I don't know the age of the female. I assume that she will be ok if she has laid this lot. Will wait a while though just in case.
