How do you build a wire container nest?

Hi all,
just wondering how one can build a wire container nest - tried using wicker baskets and nest boxes for my cb, rfpf, orange breasts, owl finches, st helenas, etc to no avail.

Any comments appreciated,

My owls love just a bundle of twigs hung up on the wall so that they can build their own nest. Not sure about the other species though.
