I have a (white zebra finch) couple that have their first clutch. They hatched about 8-9 days ago (perhaps even 10).
However, the babies still look like they are only 4 days old.
The parents don't sit on them anymore. The mother feeds them from time to time. The video was taken just after a feeding. Notice how small their crops are.

I don't have other finch pairs with eggs at the moment.
Do I leave them until the parents lose interest and then hand-rear them?

Re: Week old zebras hardly grow
The bodies look red, possibly dehydrated, looks a little swollen also.... if babies are not kept warm they can develop yeast.... organs can shut down... are the parents warming them at all?
I fear if you leave them to the parents they will likely pass, if not getting enough nourishment early on the young can become stunted.
Parents can sense when there is something wrong with the young and they will stop feeding.
