Hand-fed cockatiels are a wholly different animal and are usually very loving and snuggly.

Budgies can be tame if raised from babies with lots of handling, but it's difficult with a pet store bird.

That cockatiel is straight-up terrified. The best thing to do would be to cover half of the cage with a blanket or towel and leave the cockatiel in a quiet room for a few days. Give it time to calm down and acclimatize to its new environment, then slowly begin to try and tame it.

Please keep in mind that even hand-fed/tame birds -especially parrot types- that come from pet shops will not immediately be friendly towards you and will require quite a bit of work if you want them to bond with you. It can take months or it can take years. It depends on the bird's personality and how patient you are with it.

I have a hand-reared/"tame" pet shop cockatiel and it took almost a full year of near-constant interaction for her to calm down and be (mostly) nice with me. But even now she still has moods where she turns into a colossal b*tch and acts like I'm Public Enemy #1.

If you're willing to work for it, keep the cockatiel and be patient with it. If you want to take the easier way and have a bird that's already very friendly and been handled a lot, look into adopting a cockatiel/budgie/parrotlet off kijiji or something.
Zebra Finches - Isis & Osiris, Bast & Sobek, Anubis, Ra, Horus, Iah, Kauket, Menhit
Society Finches - Cricket, Fly, Katydid, Amblypygi, Aphid, Roach, Mantis, Mothra, Ladybug, Junebug

Cockatiel - Merlin
Bourke Parakeets - Ruby, Graphite
Budgie - R2D2
... and 5 cats, a turtle, 2 fish and a dog.

Thank you but I don't have the time the guy said I would be able to have it out with my society finches and zebras and basically just described it in a complete different way to what it is I'm now thinking it was paired with the other cocktiel in the cage.

Anyway do u breed society finches and what sort of colours are they

Sorry that the Cockatiel experience did not work out as you expected.

If you are hoping for a really tame Hookbill of any species, you need to get a very young hand fed, hand raised bird from a breeder, and continue working with this baby everyday.

Buying a Pet Shop bird (of any species), and trying to tame it is not impossible, but it is difficult and very time consuming. It may take months of daily work, if not years to gain the trust of a bird which was not hand tamed as a baby. So this is something that you need to take into consideration if you want a hand tamed bird.
