Please help! Finch not sleeping with babies?
My finch pair just had 4 babies about 7 to 10days ago and they have been feeding and sleeping with the babies at night. But today I find out they do not sleep with the babies any more. Is it normal? Is it because the babies are getting big? But their feathers have not been fully growed, my room temperature is set at 23 degree Celsius. I worry the babies will be too cold. Please help. Thanks!

ywqjennifer It is normal for parents to start leaving the nest, the babies keep each other warm, plus they will start to grow feathers, which will help. What kind of finch is this?

Thanks for your response, Sally. They are zebra finches.

ywqjennifer Ah, I think Zebras do leave the babies alone at a young age, so this is probably normal for them.

This is normal behavior.
With the room temp being 23C, and the babies being together and partially feathered, they'll be warm enough.
As long as the parents keep feeding them, everything should be alright
