What now?

Post by ferdinant » Sun Apr 23, 2006 8:02 pm

Hi there

Hope somebody can help me here! I got my gouldian Finches about a 40 days ago, +- 28 of them, the first pair that I introduced to each other immediately started with building their nest, which got me quite excited. as I was in the process of moving that was where the problem started and seemed to end as well.

Since the move which is about four weeks ago none of the birds have done anything else. About three weeks ago I saw them building nests, but nothing has happened since. All of them are in peak condition as the beaks are black etc.

1. I've got a couple of canary double breeders, will that be big enough for them to breed in, the nests are on the side of the cage and not the front?
2. Must I change partners to encourage new activity in order for them to start nesting again?
3. What is all the things that has to go in the cage? Ive got eggshells, grit, a kind of stresspack in the water, a kind of charcoal.

Please I am a novice at this, and would appreciate any advice :!:
Regards
Ferdinant

Hi Ferdinant,

Sorry I can't offer much help as I have only had my Goulds four months and have not attempted breeding yet. I'm sure someone will come along and give you some good advice though. In the meantime, have you checked out the species info on http://www.finchinfo.com? It provides excellent information on Goulds, including breeding.
