wow we have 5 chicks, the last one hatched this morning. She has her work cut out for her but so far is doing a grand job. She is also taking the mashed egg now which is great. I am preparing myself incase we loose some of them, but fingers crossed she'll manage.

Wow. What luck to have all 5 chicks hatch, when there is only one parent to care for them! She's going to be a tired mommy. I hope all goes well.

I'm happy to hear she is eating the egg now. With five chicks to feed she will need the protein as much, if not more, than they will!

Also, Zebs mature pretty quickly, so at least Mom's work will ease up before too long. Once the babies leave the nest, they will quickly start eating on their own, and though they will still beg Mom for food, at least she won't have to be supplying 100% of their meals.
