My finches almost never take a bath, but then again I'm almost never there to see them bathing.

It might also help if I put a bath into the cage, or what do you guys think? lol

On a serious note I always provide a bath in my large aviary but never see any action. What time do they normally bath? In my breeding cages I also provided shallow dishes for a week but never saw any water around it so I assumed they didn't use it, maybe I should try it again

I always know when mine have had a bath--I use newspaper for the cage bottom, and they soak it. Almost all of mine bathe every chance they get. In fact, I put dishes of water in the top cages first, and before I finish all the cages, I have had a shower from all the water being thrown out of the top cages.

As soon as I put a bath cup in the cage my Zebra's are in it as soon as I take my hands out of the cage. My Gouldians take a lot longer to get in there.

It is strange tho...when I put in a large bathing cup they do use it all day long but when I replace it with their night time water dish....which is very very tiny...they are trying to get in that little thing too!

My owls, societies, and stars jump in the tub as soon as I change their water in the morning and in the late afternoon. Water flies everywhere!
The gouldians are a little more sophisicated and just dunk their heads and throw water over their backs.

They are all so funny

Maybe because I always have a bath dish in the large aviary they sorta get used to it and don't appreciate it.

I should deprive them of their bathing privileges for a couple of days so they'll appreciate it more.

My finches just bathe in their water dish. :/ I've tried to put a separate shallow bowl of water in there for their bathing, but they just keep going back to the drinking water.
It's kind of irritating to go after them and change the fresh water after they jump in it, but it's so darn cute when they shake it off and preen that I forgive them every time. ^^

Some birds love to bath others not so much. I ALWAYS add smooth river rock to the bathing dishes to make them VERY SHALLOW when there are young in the nest and fledgings.
