Malti

Congratulations on new baby zebra.

No thanks, my Cut Throat boy, is just fine on his own. He came as an extra free bird with a large flight that I bought quite a while ago, with a Gouldian female and some Societies. He is bonded to the Socies, and is doing just fine.

Cut Throat's, tend to get aggressive when kept in pairs , and when they go into breeding mode. If I want aggression, I have my Zebras for that :D

Hi Padraic,

Indeed, it is a very addictive hobby :D .
I was suppose to have one male Canary, to sing in my kitchen. Instead I've ended up with a Zoo.

Regarding the Owls, and the Fire's nest, lol... No way, Orion , has been keeping everyone away from his precious Rowena and their secret stash. She seems to be sitting tight (so we'll see what happens).

If she hatches Owls, I think I'll ~X( lol.

Got 3 more viable eggs, hope they hatch :) and another nest with 8 eggs, and another till yesterday was 1 egg but nest was a joke - had an old nest and put it for then and egg on top, but not much hope on that nest. Now if only my white zeb decides to become a daddy and not just sing almost competitively with the canaries all 5 pairs will be set.

Ps I'm on night shift so if I ever don't make sense is cause I think too much, talk too fast and my mind doesn't cooperate with translating to English from Maltese.

Take Arabic, Italian, French, english and a couple of other languages and mix them up.

That owl finch is cute - if I get more space next year as I should be moving I'll get some :)

Considering our small population it is. A big plus is that the brits tell me I got a sexy accent on the phone (worked in a call center  )

Btw best bit of our language is foreigners trying to use it :)

I think when people try to use the local language, it's sweet .

Yes, and we spend hours teaching them and having a laugh together :) I also learned a lot of languages like that... Mainly swear words though

Zebra 11

What? Only 11? That can't be right lovezebs. I think you left out a "1" in front of that 11

Seriously though, how have you been controlling their incessant breeding? Turfing eggs, or are you finding homes for any excess?

No, not a lot of Zebras anymore.

I have discovered over time, that although they are beautiful birds, their aggressive personality bothers me.

I find myself more drawn to the peaceful members of the finch world.

As to how I control the breeding.....
It's so tempting to say castration, or mini chastity belts, but...

I actually don't have any nests in their flight, and I toss any eggs that I find .
I might attempt to breed Zazu, but that will be another Post.

Hello Everyone.

Our Rowena, is still sitting on her eggs, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Orion, is watching everyone suspiciously and giving them the evil eye ;-). He thinks he's so big and tough, as he chases off everybody (even my Shaftail male..... who I think humors him, lol).
