I wanted to make sure and give the hen plenty of time to rest and recuperate from her egg explosion before she started again. I did go ahead and put a handful of coconut fiber in the nest two days ago, because it took a while for them to build the first one, and I assumed it would be the same for the second.

Man was I wrong! #-o This morning another nest was fully completed in a different spot, and they had started lining it with feathers. I pulled the nest out, and an egg fell to the floor  I threw it away and pulled all remaining fiber out for now.

She is NOT happy with me...she was peeping at me as I walked out the door this morning.

Ok, now I'm definitely going to go and have a look inside my blue-cap's nest this weekend. I have a sneaky suspicion that there might just be a ton of eggs in there as well!

I really wish they would actually hatch something, for both of us!

You could make an omelet out of all those eggs

=)) =)) =))

I wish they would hatch something too. I've got my pair in a mixed flight cage right now. She needs a break! (even though she doesn't want one)

They've actually both been moved to a mixed flight with other birds, and I slowed way down on the egg food I was giving her. They're both doing great!
