Madcat

She has 4 babies now. Two look like Blues, two split to Blue. They punctured one egg, the other unhatched. All four babies hatched are strong with open beaks. We will see by tomorrow morning if they are feeding them all properly. Wish these two luck!

They have to learn, so I am letting them be after two nest checks today.

Madcat

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I waited until about a hour ago to do a crop check to allow the parents to fill their bellies first.

All babies crops are filled, and Jet and Bubbles are sitting tight together, working as a great team!

I chuckled while they both cussed me out in gouldian X( while I quickly shifted their butts around to get a look at the chicks.

Nighttime crop check shows everyone is full!! hurray! Jet had to be lifted out of the nest (toes clenched) and pushed out the front cause he was NOT having me touch his babies! Grrrrrrrr.grrr He immediately lept back in when I was done. They are doing great!

It's those first 3 days I always crop check to make sure they are getting everyone. They are gonna take it all the way!

Babs, I have a society fostering gouldian eggs after the loss of the cock and hen didn't sit. I did nest checks today. 2 society chicks in a different nest = good. 4 society eggs in another nest due to hatch tomorrow = good. Tried to move the foster society mom off of the gouldian eggs = I got bit and that girl didn't budge. LOL!! She'll be an excellent mom.
