A few have taken a bath when I wasn't in the room. I came back in and noticed some wet breast feathers and the fledgling was preening.

Well there you go, and you didn't even have to teach them how to scrub behind their ears, lol.

Beautiful pics your male is absolutely stunning. Sometimes the original colored gouldians are the prettiest in my opinion. Congrats

If you're getting the double flight, its time to start shopping for some gouldian lovelies.
if it works out with my society finches being able to stay all in one cage, then I definitely will be getting 2 gouldian finches.

Pics of one of the fledglings today, 12/16/16. In one to two weeks we will move them to a larger flight cage.

A beautiful baby, and a lovely picture.

What camera are you using for these pictures ? It takes amazing pictures.

Thanks, I figured from the quality of the picts, that this was no phone camera, absolutely lovely (both baby and picture :) .

Hard to believe that these tiny tots, are already six weeks old. Time sure flies.

Yes, time does fly! When they first hatch though, time seems to go so slow until they get about 5 weeks old. Probably more so because this was our first clutch of Gouldians :)

Should be, with a red head. Wondering about the mix of males to females but I guess we won't know until 4-6 months old.

Your boys will attempt some singing at some point (just a little lisping whisper), and you should be able to see them listening very intently to their Father when he sings.

I would grab the kids at some point, and band them (either with official bands), or even just with color rings, to be able to tell them apart when they grow and colour up.

In another week they will be moved to a larger flight cage and I will band them with split plastic colored bands.

Well, we decided last night they were weaned and the parents wanted to start another clutch so I banded them today and put them in a larger flight cage. I put the nest box back in the parents cage and 2 minutes later the father was back in the nest box waiting for the female to join in. I have a feeling we will be seeing new eggs in about 4-5 days :) The juveniles are doing well in their new larger cage.
