Haha I know right!
These pic is when they were still in their first moult. They're almost white now. I love them and their attitude. Super smart and friendly. Makes me wanna hand feed some babies and see what I can teach them. I'm pretty sure that with their intelligence they can help me load the dishwasher at the very least. Ahahhaha

When the new couple Tails & Lady decided to breed, they opted to breed in the privacy of their own nest due to Tux wanting to breed with both hens.
Pushy Tux would hear them breeding and stick his face in their nest like "HEY, whatcha doin in there? OHHH, well I'm just gonna hang out and stare at you while you do that. OK ?"
The arguments following those intrusions had me holding my stomach laughing. Tux really is a bit of a jerk.
Dylan, I had to reread your comments on their excellent foster skills. Lets hope mine are as doting. This will be the first clutches for both hens (Charm is almost 11 months old and Lady never laid eggs for her previous owner....I noticed the nest she gave them was way too small when I picked them up)
*** Edit The one egg I left in there that I didnt think was viable just hatched. I thought it expired in the shell. Glad I didnt chuck it. So there are now 3

Javas are awesome parents once they mature. I have a pair that's brooding their 3rd clutch. 7 babies and feeding them all well!!! The male is an amazing father, feeding both the babies and mom constantly. They absolutely love romaine when they're feeding young babies. Between that, hard boiled egg, and dry eggfood, they really do well.

All three babies look good and hydrated so they are getting fed. I think the feeding could be heavier, but they are growing so I'm not going to pull them. I'll let Charm finish her job and learn.
I figure once they start chirping, the feedings will increase.
I think I have a possible fawn in there. Its eyes are beak are much lighter than the other two.

Have they started feeding those babies, or do I have to come down there and give them a talking to?
Even if he was raised with Zebras, he should still have seen them feeding and picked up on it.

babs I also noticed my Java-reared babies were never as stuffed as those raised by societies or zebras. Whereas these species tend to STUFF and then leave the chicks for a bit, the Javas fed little bits much more often throughout the day.

Once in a while Tux swaps with Charm, so he is getting the hang of it. Right now he's busy being Mr. Nosey Pants sticking his head in the other's nest periodically.
Their next clutch I am splitting their cages up with the divider in the new doubleflight.
Dylan, that sounds EXACTLY how they are feeding. I feel much relieved now. Thanks!

I spy 3 well fed kiddos. Can someone identify the light mutation in the picture? He is the youngest, born two days behind the others. Mom is filling them up with boiled egg now.

Im going by Dylan's experience. They arent stuffed, but all babies are fed and look hydrated, so I will let mom do her job. Yes they are quite simple and beautiful. Im waiting for the chirps and I will be happy indeed!
