It is A nandy conure spoiled rotten had her before I got bit by the finch bug.They can be very loud,but fortunately I cant hear real well,she stays on my shoulder a lot eatting holes in my shirts

What a cutie pie!
I am curious as to the blue stuff on the side of their beaks....is that something they lose when they get older? I am really showing my ignorance here.

They are nodules to help the parents feed them in the dark I think.
Yes, they are gone when they get older.

Yes they do lose the blue irredesence at the sides of their mouths after they are fully weaned. It's necessary for Gouldians as their nests are typically in dark spots and this helps the parents locate the mouths to put food into in the darkness.

Ok...that is what I though but I was under the impression that the reflective spots were just inside the mouth....I remember seeing those neat photos of the different spots inside the mouths and were different in each species.
Another piece of knowledge added to my brain closet....but I think more is going out than coming in...hehe!

As far as I know, only Gouldians and Parrot finches are the only Estrildids to have these irridescent nobules.
