My goulds are the same when i have to move them to check the babies. I think i made a boo boo though. yesterday one of the goulds hatched out a baby. They had been feeding it and staying in the nest with it, but when i checked last night no one was in the nest so i freaked out an immediately moved the baby and 2 eggs in the society nest. Luckily the 2 baby societies fledged an fed on there own now for a week so i removed them back into the flight. Anyways this morning and a few minutes ago i saw the gould parents checking the now empty nest and they been chirping as if they are calling there babies. Another egg hatched today and the societies are feeding the 2 new goulds and the 18 day old gould as well. I feel bad now cause i think if i left them the goulds would've tooken care of them. I am moving the male and female gould pair in a cage together so they can bond better and this time i am not gonna do nest checks until i see babies fledge from the nest. Nothing bad happened i just feel bad that i removed the goulds from there parents cause they have been checking the nest all day but i dont want to move the babies back since the socities are already doing a good job.

I won't be keeping the sibs long enough for them to cross breed. When they molt..... they get new homes!

Same thing here Donna. I sell mine too... unless there's a particular different baby that I do not have an adult version of - for example a blue, pastel blue or dilute with a purple breast. Those I would keep for future breeding.

It is so strange to me that I keep getting so many dilutes. I had never had one before. They are pretty, but I really like the normals best. I have seen prices where the dilutes cost more. I found that odd too because they are not as pretty to me as the normals.

I am getting either dilutes or yellows. So far.... no normals.

Another baby hatched yesterday so now there are seven. The nest is going to be very crowded. They chose the smallest one this time. It is a wood nest with a top that lifts off, but not so big. There are still two eggs in there and they look fertile, but haven't hatched so far. I am almost hoping that they don't.

Donna, I think you need to rename your location to "Finch City" Georgia. :P

So how many hatched in the end and are they fledging yet?
