I wonder if the crest is a "split" form of baldness which seems like it might be a recessive trait. I know some of you guys hate genetics but I am thinking it is a visual "split" (this happens in a morph of ball pythons where the heterozygous or split form of a pastel shows much brighter color than a normal, but when two pastels are bred together you get 25% "super pastels" which is the homozygous expression of the ressive trait with the animal being a brilliant yellow color with a beautiful white spot on its head). I enjoy genetics and one time got crazy with it and did a 5 simple recessive trait punnett square by hand. It took me about 5 hours to finish it all including the percentage chance of getting a certain phenotype and genotype. I still get confused with gouldians though, they have some odd things with their head/breast colors that I still dont understand...all well, can't win 'em all

4 gouldians (Devin and Agnes, Jezebel and Rocky), 4 society finches, 2 Zebras, 2 Cordon Bleus
