I have to say, of all the Cordon Bleu, the Blue capped is my favourite! The male is stunning! almost makes me want one!

EDIT: Just saw this on Youtube... wow look at him jump!

Yes. The male courtship display is something else to watch. Our male does it a lot and has a courtship song he sings at the same time. Many times I am in the bird room looking at another cage and I hear him singing and hear the tap dancing on the perch and look over and there he is at it again! Also, holding a piece of nest fiber while he sings and dances. He is really talented.

It's been eight days since they fledged and all their pin feathers have unfurled. Here are a few pics taken today. They are healthy, very active, and extra cute :) I am going to try to get a pic of all 5 lined up on a perch if I can.

I WANT that sweet little boy of yours....
All three are adorable, but the expression on his face, just makes me want to plant a kiss on top of his little blue head <3 <3 <3

So so sweet.

a_gouldian - Just found out from w.l. that all exports from east Africa might have stopped. So we might have to twist your arm in the summer and convince you to send some of your kids out west to keep the species going here.

I would gladly grab that wee boy and one of his sisters, and snap up mates for them from Jean , north of here.

That would bring in some new blood into the equation, but shipping from the States into Canada, is such a pain #-o .

We definitely are not keeping all of them but we have never ventured into shipping a bird so that would be a learning process for us, although most of our birds were shipped to us with no shipping problems.

We have two more nestlings now that should fledge sometime this coming week. I can't remember the hatch date off the top of my head but they are 10-13 days old now and looking good :)
