And there are babies! Nothing in the other nest yet, but they were a day behind. Do I start adding soft food now?

Rob

Congratulations Rob!

I see they decided to arrive on a rainy day, lol.

Offer eggs, spray millet, some greens, and the regular seed mix

First babies, are so exciting :D .

Thanks! Is it ok to freeze portions of boiled egg? Or leave chopped up pieces in the fridge? And is it better to mix everything together, or leave the veggies separate?

@Fraza

I'll see if I can get a good picture. They don't like posing for me usually ha.

Quite a few people freeze their egg food portions, although I always feed fresh (the kids are picky, lol). Yes, you can certainly keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge for 2 or 3 days, but I wouldn't go much longer than that.

Enjoy your babies.

Ok thanks. My rule is always, if it doesn't look good enough for me to eat I won't feed it to my pets. And I don't think I'd eat egg from the freezer either haha.

Haahaa... I know what you mean, blah, but it works well for quite a few members, lol.

I usually cook 6-8 eggs, make my egg food, and it's gone that day, but I'm feeding quite a few birds, so it's a different story.

Nice! It looks like the hatchlings have food in their crops, so that's good news.

I was lucky enough to watch one hatch the other night. They tossed one of the remaining eggs and are still sitting on the remaining one (they had 6 in total). I've seen them all eating the boiled eggs, just not as much as I expected. I need to remind myself their stomachs are only so big.

And in the other nest I just found the first hatchling :)

At this point I still have unhatched eggs. In the nestbox with the single hatchling, I saw an egg with a hole or two poked in it, but nothing has come out, this was a few days ago, and the others are just laying there. Do I continue to leave them be?

They're getting comfortable with me peeking in on them now, so it's hard to get a good look. How long does it take for feathers to come?
