Re: Any Guess? Please Help!!!
alright. thanks. I'll try. I also used Fraza's tip and estimated that the first 3 eggs of the clutch should be hatching anywhere between the 27 of this month and the 2nd of next month. so be expecting baby pictures around then.

Arh right ok,
Incidentally I noticed going by yer email address that that yer in yer teens, if you don't mind me asking how old are yer as I got the impression that yer quite young and seem to be rather enthusiastic with yer zebras which in fairness is good thing,
Having a thirst for bird orientated knowledge is always a good thing as it'll make yer become a better bird keeper as a whole with time
Be lucky

Re: Any Guess? Please Help!!!
Lets discuss the age thing through pm. I have always liked birds. just seeing them and being around them got me excited from a young age. When I was 6 I had a parakeet that my parents took care of for me. He died from unknown causes. And all my life I have been interacting with my parents cockatiels. however last year the female died and so a friend of my sister gave is his male because he had to get rid of it. So I've always been around birds and stuff. any other questions?

Re: Any Guess? Please Help!!!
Hello everyone. I have some very sad news. I woke up this morning and found my NG male brother dead in the nest. His brother was hopping around looking for him. anyone have a guess what might have caused it? I have removed the nest from the cage just to be safe.

Re: Any Guess? Please Help!!!
Based on the information above I was wondering if you all could help me guess why he died. If you can't figure out why he died then can you at least respond and help me find some supplies near me or that anyone is willing to send? I am looking for a cage like the one in the picture below and I am also looking for any female zebra finches. Please help.

Fraza
No I didn't see any. Last night they seemed fine and this morning I woke up and found him unresponsive in the nest with his tail up in the air. So I dug him out and found out he was dead. I couldn't figure out why and broke out crying.
Because of this is why I am looking for the kind of cage I have in the picture and any female zebra finches or actually any male or female finches for that matter. I don't want him to die of loneliness. I tried to put him back in the parents but the dad, Jack Sparro, tried to pluck all of Pearl's feathers out for lining the nest with. So after removing the old nest that had the dead bird I cleaned the small cage, put in a new nest, a cleaned perch, and completely cleaned out bowls of food and water. Now I am looking for the cage in the picture and at least one or more finches to give him as a companion.

So sorry about your little fellow Nick . That's so sad, especially with a very young bird.
As Fraser already asked you, was he showing any signs of illness?
- not eating
- not drinking
- sneezing, coughing
- runny poops
- sleeping during the day
- feathers fluffed
- sitting with head tucked into his feathers
- not flying around
Sadly in many cases, we never find out what had gone wrong.
Keep a close eye on your other youngster to make sure he's alright.

Re: Any Guess? Please Help!!!
lovezebs Thanks for that.
As I said I actually didn't see anything wrong with him. He was eating and drinking fine, no sneezing or coughing, the poop looked "normal", he was always awake when I was in the room, his feathers weren't really fluffed looking, he was always hopping around when I watched him and never had his head tucked under him, however with the small size of the cage (the reason I now really need to get a bigger cage) they couldn't really fly around.
Know anywhere where I can get a bigger cage like pictured for a decent price or a new friend for him? I am looking around right now trying to find him a new friend first and foremost.

Sweetie, I'm up in Canada, so what's available around here would not be helpful to you down in Florida.
Regarding the flying, you can close the door to your room and let him out for short supervised flying sessions at some point during the day (just make sure you cover any mirrors, windows or anything else which might be dangerous such as air vents, fans, etc. Also watch that he doesn't fall behind anything from behind which you can't readily get him out). *** No dogs or cats allowed in the room during flying sessions.***
When he's had enough, just very gently scoop him up and put him back in his cage.
I hope you find a nice cage soon.
