I use nest boxes, both half open and with an entry way, and large wicker nests 5 inches in diameter. Depends on the cage and the pair of birds. The boxes I like the best have an entry way. They seem to sit tighter in them. Item #170 @ http://www.friskyfinches.com/nestingboxes.htm

Thanks Gunnar for the info.

Just out of curosity did you have any finch that didn't take well to the regular box with an opening in it but did well when you introduced the breeding box with the two compartments?

Have you ever had a gould that did not like the two (2) compartment nesting box?
