2 eggs have hatched - I was so worried about those darn eggs that things happened on there own! I looked in and saw two little mouths looking for food. Word is out on the other two eggs - I guess we'll see what time brings!

Congratulations on your Zebras

I wouldn't worry about the size of the nest. I think they should be fine in what they are using.

Now don't disturb them too much...

Geez I'm like a new mother - NERVOUS.

Are they going to get smothered in there?
Will they be alive in the morning?
Do they need me to feed them?

ARGH! Who would have thought it would be this exciting.

How long would you leave the remaining 2 eggs in there that haven't hatched yet?

Thanks!

No need to worry, if you have good parent zeb's everything will be OK. If the other two eggs don't hatch they will probably get pushed under some nesting material. You would just have to make sure you dump them when the young leave. If you go more than 2 days and the eggs still hatch they probably wont have much chance of survival because the other two will have a growth advantage on them.

As long as the parents are doing their job you will not have to feed, so don't worry! The less we interfere, the better off the birds are. Your job is to enjoy this while they do the work!

I sat there this morning with my breakfast and watched. I thought "I don't think they are getting fed.." It seemed like mom and pop were coming out to eat - and thats it. And then I watched closer - you can see papa bringing his food up for the babies. That made me so happy. They really enjoy their egg food.

I haven't been able to look in the nest yet to see whats up with the other 2 eggs, but might get the chance tonight. :)
