My baby zebra finches are doing well. Thought that I would share pictures with all of you. The 4th egg never did hatch - but I am reluctant to remove it - I don't want to disturb them right now.
At what point will the birds leave the nest?
At what point could I put the birds in their own cage?
Day 7
Day 9

I am very happy right now at the fact that they are doing so well. I hearing them making noises all the time! They are very active and eat alot more than I thought! I don't think their eyes are open yet - it's quite amazing though to see the changes.

My society finch fledged the nest at around 20-25 days..they grow quick. I'm not sure with Zebras tho.
The parents will continue to feed them when they fledge the nest. In a few days they will begin to ween them and the babies will be forced to eat on their own. That takes another couple of days.
If I remember correctly....a few days(5? 7?) after the babie began to eat on its own, it began to hop and fly around the cage with a bit more grace.
I would think at that point you would be able to put them in another cage.

THAT IS SOOOO AWSOME!!! Good pictures. I wish I could get pictures that good while they young were in the nest..
I believe the Zebra Finch will leave the nest around ~17 days. I had one leave at day 14 and hobbled on the floor for about 2 days before finding his wings.
