Hello
My adult pair of Java finches just finished raising there babies. She also laid three eggs, and then five days went by with no more. Today I took the babies away, into a new cage.....(they are plenty old enough and eating on their own now although still bother to call to the parents for food) I also removed the whole nest and the three eggs.
Anyways my question is this....the two parents are seemingly a little upset right now looking for the nest. But I really want to give the female a break from breeding now. WIll they "get over it" and take time off breeding now with no nest around?

They should get over it. I have found hens laying one or two eggs on the floor or in a treat cup after a nest is removed, but they usually stop after that.

Yep they will be fine and a break is a great idea. Congradulations on the babies you have..

I always give all my birds a break after they raised a clutch by removing the nests. They all do fine and I'm sure they'll breed again.
