Post by mea » Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:14 pm

Hi everyone,
I soooo... new to this. My female zebra finch started laying eggs on Sunday, she laid one on Monday and Tuesday as well. today, Wednesday, none. is this O.K., is she done or could she possibly have more to lay. Any info would be sooo... appreciated. Mea :?

She's more than likely all done laying.....now we wait and see if any hatch. It'll take a couple of weeks, and when they hatch mom will take care of feeding them.

Good luck! Let us know if you have any more questions.

They usually lay one egg per day until they are done like lyderbug said. She should start incubating the eggs now when she will spend most of the day and night in the nest.

Keep us up to date and let us know if she spends a lot of time in the nest from now on, if she doesn't the eggs will not hatch but don't worry about that now just let her do her job.

Thanks for the advice everyone!! She has laid 4 eggs and stopped. They both were picking up feathers from the bottom of the cage and putting them in the nest. Usually by evening they are both sitting in the nest and come out early morning. Keep ya posted!!! Mea

Well now you just got to wait about 2 weeks and you should have some babies. if my female is taking care of her eggs i expect to have hatchlings in about 14 to 16 days.

My zebras just had their first baby, and my societies had their clutch at the same time. This may be helpful; it's been helpful to me...
