I believe this is normal behavior, but just dbl checking.

I have two society finches (both female). Since the male has died(about two months ago) they've been fine...a little girl on girl action, but nothing other than that. So the other day I changed their diet a bit and added more cuttle bone for them to nip at...well now they're laying eggs. Obviously the eggs are not fertilized. I would guess I can just leave the eggs there for a bit....they're not active at all and are quite hissy when I go near the cage....I had no idea a finch could hiss.

So I'm not so much worried about them laying eggs...what bothers me is they're being so damned quiet. Barely moving around, not peeping or nothing. They're just keeping them warm, and wathcing me very very closely. They know that I'm the one that usually takes their eggs away. I would guess this to be normal behavior...any suggestions? Should I just let them have the eggs for a few days? Does it really matter if I leave them or take them?

Thank you in advance

I would just leave them alone there is no harm and the'll just get bord and stop incubating at one poing or another. If you remove the eggs the'll just lay another batch and that would stress them more.
