Thank You! I added more nesting material today as well and all the males went crazy over it, they were chasing each other around and trying to take it out of each others beaks, lol. i fill the lil basket full of material all the time and everytime i come back to it its always empty. Its crazy how they manage to fit all that material in there nest and still manage to have all that room in there to raise a family.

Congratulations on all them eggs! Adding more nesting material after eggs are laid might be a mistake. They will often times cover up any existing eggs. I usually remove any extra nesting material once eggs are laid so that doesn't happen. You don't want any eggs to be MIA!

I have had them to do the same thing. Completely cover up existing eggs.
Sometimes they don't know when to stop nest building. But they are so fun to watch them drag stuff in. I have actually had them to take their millet into the nest for nesting materials.

LOL, actually one of my zebra pair does have a millet strip in there nest but i left it because it wasnt in the way, he managed to wedge in the roof of the nest and it kinda hangout the entrance almost like a door. but yeah, i always check the nest everytime i put material in the cage to make sure they dont bury the eggs. the yall have been pretty good at building their nest around the eggs. and i checked again today after all the nest material was used and the nest were all fine.

Since im moving this monday to virginia i put all the finches in seperate cages and i put the three nest in a cage togethr with eggs in them and the parent to each nest along with societys just incase thye parents would abandon them but they have stayed with there nest. and i put the nest with hatchling and parents in a cage to themselves and they still constantly feed the babies and there about 8 days old now.
