My female Gouldian has had the black/grey beak for over two months now. Does anybody know how long they normally stay in the breeding mode before they get back to normal?
**On a Happy note---> It is Hubby's last day at work today so we will be officially retired tomorrow.
Does that mean my Finches are retired as well? I would think so since they can sleep in late now too....lol!

When you think about it, the average incubation time for finches is 2 weeks, then 3 weeks to fledging, so you are looking at 5 weeks per clutch. Three clutches could take up about 4 months. So they can stay in breeding mode for quite a while.

Thanks for the info....I though maybe that since my Gouldians weren't nesting that the female's beak would lighten up sooner.
Always something new to learn here!
