Gouldian Question

Post by Cliff89 » Fri Nov 06, 2015 7:20 am

First I would like like to say Hi to everyone, as I am new to the forums!

So I recently purchased a few Gouldian Finches and now have a situation I need help deciding what to do on. After setting up my pairs for breeding I was left with 2 yellow hens and a red head green back cock. These hens really seem to enjoy each other and do not like to be separated. So my question is... Can I put the male with both of them and let them decide which gets to breed? Or should I take one of the females out?

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to the forum!
Yes, put the male with both of females and let them decide and later move the extra female to another cage.
I love Gouldian Finches.

Welcome to the forum. :)
It would be perfectly fine to put them all together and see who likes who.
Good luck and please keep us posted

Welcome go the Forum.

I place my Gouldi kids together, and allow them to pick their own mates. I find, that when they get to pick who they like, they form a nice strong bond, and raise nice families together.

OK glad to hear that is a common thing to do! I will place them together and see what happens. I know he is excited to start breeding, he is singing his heart out everyday!
