We have a pair of Society Finch who have 2 five week olds. As normal, they are now laying more eggs in their nest. Will the 5 week olds co-habitat with the parents when they begin to incubate the new eggs? I know they can help rear the new brood but will they continue to live together? Thanks in advance! Tina

I'm sure they will all get along fine together, they are society's after all
I might be more concerned that they will in breed when the chick's are old enough.

Depends on the parents. I have some that start plucking the older chicks when they start the next batch. If there alot of birds I would worry about them squashing the next batch.

Socies being Socies, will probably all pile into the o e est together.

I do however share Lori's concern, that the baby chicks will get squished once they hatch.

How big is your nest?

The nest is one of the hanging hollowed out lufa sponge type ...so it is pretty big. I made them a bigger one from Coconut fiber sheeting (they started building a new nest) But the egg is in their exisiting nest. Thanks for all the info. I will keep you posted.

There are 8 of them together now ..... and even if we give them new nests ...they all pile in one. They are a true "society" group.
