Gouldian boy or girl?

That Aerosmith song comes to mind Dude Looks Like A Lady . LOL. A while ago I purchased what the breeder thought was a girl. Over the last 6 months and I have never once heard her sing. Not one note! This confirmed to me as well it was indeed a girl. She's finally comming to the end of her molt and suddenly a long tail wire. All of my boy goulds sing the whole day! Occasionally they have a little quiet spell for an hour now and then. Do I have a boy that doesn't sing? If anyone can tell from the pictures if it's a boy or girl or if anyone has a boy that doesn't sing I'd like to hear about it

i'd say a definite Hen, yellow cocks will generally have a solid uniform yellow/red face mask, yellow hens tend to have a patchy colouring to mask as above photo, yellow body is also not as vivid as with cocks.

Funny that you have one like that too, lol.
I just posted a similar post a little time ago.....
Debbie, assured me that some females, can have long tail feathers (but, she thinks that my 'girl' (?), might be a boy). This bird has never sung either, and is closely bonded with a male. I still think that mine is a girl.

I'd say a hen because of the lighter belly color and the beak color seems to go back further then just the tip in those pictures. Hens can occasionally have long tailwires. She is going to have a gorgeous head when all those pin feathers come out.
If you think it's a male and it's with other males try removing it away from them. There are times when they don't sing because they are with a much more dominant male.
Best of luck, do let us know if he sings or she lays eggs to confirm

Thank you! sam007, smurf, lovezebs and debbie276. Everybody seems to have the same consensus it must be a girl with a long tail wire. I had her in a flight she shared with two other girls and 3 boys and never heard her sing there either. It must be a girl. If I find out any different I'll let you know.
