My star finch laying eggs and is being mean about it....

Hi, I'm new here. I've got a question that maybe someone could advise me on. I've got a cage with a pair of yellow face stars, a pair of owls, and a pair of Senegal fire finches. They normally get along great, until today. My female star has laid an egg and it has made her quite testy. Esp. To her mate who seems interested in helping and just likes to be near her. She has always been an independent gal, but now it looks like they are beak to beak...my question is, is she dangerous to her mate and the others? She has been chasing the others a good bit. I would hate to have anything terrible happen to anyone. Should I continue to let her sit on her egg and maybe future eggs and see how it goes or should I take the egg out? I do have a pair of zebras in another cage that are good parents and are dying to raise more, but I haven't let them. Should I try to get them to foster the stars eggs and get my girl back to her old self?
Thanks
From the worried finch parent

It's not unusual for a new Mom to get very protective of her nest and egg babies, especially if there are other species and other birds around, and not enough space for her to feel safe and comfortable in.

My question would be:
How big is your cage?

Well, to give you an update, she didn't sit on her egg that night and chose to be with her mate instead on the swing. She seems to mostly have abandoned it and has not laid another as far as I know. The upside is, she is back to normal and peace is restored. Literally, overnight.
