The day after I posted the baby doing well, I found it at the bottom of the cage dead.

My son plays a brass instrument and he marched into the room the pair was in and "honked" really loud. He should have known better) I can't say that's what did it... But everything was going too well until my that point. The baby was loud and healthy before that point.

:(

They are sitting on more eggs and I have since moved another cage/pair into the now dedicated "bird room" (where music is off limits)

I'm sorry you lost your baby but I wouldn't be so quick to lay blame.
Growing up my canaries loved the sound of brass instruments. The male would often try to compete!
