How to pair gouldians
I'm not sure how to go about getting a pair together. I have an older female gouldian in with 2 male societies. In the same room are 2 other cages, each one holding 2 male gouldians. They are all calling back and forth to each other. I think she may be too old to breed, but she seems interested. How would I go about introducing her to one of them?
2 owls
2 red-faced parrot finches
1 parrot finch hybrid
4 societies
7 gouldians
2 canaries
2 cocker spaniels

Re: How to pair gouldians
I pair my birds so I have the best chance of getting a color combo that I want. Does not always work well. Sometimes it takes the birds a LONG time to bond.
I would just pick a male that you want to pair with her.
Set him up in a cage with a nest for a few days, so he finds the nest and is comfortable with the cage.
Then introduce the hen a few days later.
I would give them liquid calcium at half dose then put crushed egg shell with the egg food. That method seems to work for me, and keeps them from overdosing on calcium.

I can't remember how old she is. Even if she is too old, I thought this might give her something to do. And I thought since she seems so interested maybe something will come of this.

If your girl is old, the chances of getting egg bound and dying are much higher then with a younger bird (that's why I asked about her age) .
