Hi all, Well I have been waiting on my zebras to lay some eggs and I have not checked the nest box in a number of days until today and come to my surprise I seen five eggs!
Now I could hardly wait until they hatch!
This is the first time i ever had my birds do this!
Thank you all for the advice! :-)
Michael

Woo-hoooo!
A big congratulations to you and of course your birdlings.

A clutch of egg babies is always eggciting, but much more so when it's the first clutch ever \:D/ .

So now, start buying cigars.... just kidding, lol.

Now you have to make sure that you don't disturb the nest too much. First time parents may abandon the nest and the clutch, if there is too much interference. Patience is the key word here (and we all know that it's not easy :D ).

Make sure that you supply your expectant parents with plenty of good seed, hard boiled egg everyday, greens everyday, crushed egg shells and cuttle bone all the time, along with fresh water for drinking and bathing.

Other than that , you just have to sit back, twiddle your thumbs, and let them do what nature meant them to do.

Ok sounds good Elana, thank you so much for the list of goodies i need to supply them with.
One thing i have noticed is that the male does most of the sitting on the eggs untill he comes out and drink/eat then the female takes over for a little while.
I thought that the female sits on the eggs most of the time?
Thanks,Michael

Sounds like she has trained her mate well! Congrats on the eggs, and we'll look forward to seeing photos of the babies later on.
