Gouldians with Society finches
My gouldians laid three eggs and none of them were sucessful. They have been out of their nest for a week. They don't seem the least bit interested in starting another clutch. So yesterday when I got home from work the society finches had taken over their nest. I am not even sure that they are one of each sex as I have never seen them trying to mate. Anyway, should I just put another nest in their cage to see if the gouldians are interested or maybe they are just taking a break. What does anyone else think?

Jeanne, it helps to let people know where you're from. The reason why it's important is because it lets others know if it's breeding season where you live. Are you using lights to stimulate their breeding season?
What do you mean they laid 3 eggs and none of them were sucessful? You mean they were infertile?
How old are your Gouldians? If they are young, then they aren't going to be experienced. You just have a pair of Gouldians and a pair of Societies in the cage together? Most species are territorial while they're producing so maybe if your cage is too small, they may have given up trying to defend their nest since society finches like to roost in a nest.
