Once they have 'succesfully' mated, you can expect an egg in around 24 hours or there abouts.

Thank you. I am curious though..... my Saint Helena laid unfertilised eggs often and so did my fathers Zebra's. So do CB also lay eggs regardless.

All birds can lay infertile eggs.
That's why you will often have females of different species laying eggs, even when there are no males in sight.

At times when a pair build a nest, the female is in such a hurry to lay eggs, that she kinda leaves the male out of the equation, lol.

At other times a young or inexperienced pair, will attempt to mate not necessarily successfully, and off goes your girl to lay eggs. Sometimes either male or female, or both are too old, or too young, or just not on the same page.

I call these practice runs.

And then there are situations, where they will breed, lay fertile eggs, but abandon the nest for whatever reason. Or, breed, lay eggs, incubate, hatch, then allow the chicks to starve, or toss them out of the nest to start a new clutch.

Breeding birds, can be a wonderful hobby, but it can also be frustrating and heartbreaking at times.
