I knew my hen was "missing" and didn't dare look for her. This early morning routine, going in to feed my birds in the aviary and I see a tiny baby flitting around on the ground. EXCITMENT !!! I recognized that beautiful color right away. I immediately banded him/her and then saw movement in the corner of my eye...another one! Soooooooo beautiful and I'm so excited. I've had this "pair" less then a year, purchased at the Port Arthur bird fair last August. The seller said they were a pair and I prayed he had it right. Yep! Hope he is at the next fair so I can tell him he nailed it!

Congrats!

If your pair is like mine was last year, another clutch will soon follow.

What lovely babies!
Congratulations Jenny.
Are there only two, or might there be more getting ready to take the leap?

Jen Congrats! This is a species that is particularly difficult, I think, so this is a big accomplishment! I really feel that the difference is having them in an aviary setting, rather than in cages as so many of us do.

Yes, I agree with you. The aviary with all the additional flight and nesting space has made a huge difference in all the species. It has also taken me several YEARS to get over the fact that I need to just add healthy food, fresh water and keep my nose headed to the door...mind my own business and let them mind their's....enjoy them from a distance, that the trick for me.
