# 1 Fuzzy Squiper
Good morning everyone,
Saw this tiny fuzzy Squip in a nest last night before bedtime.
Woke up this morning, to a somewhat lethargic but hungry Squipper. This time I wasn't going to take chances.
Scooping him up, I offered him a nice warm breakfast (which he accepted enthusiastically, rewarding me with a poop).
I placed him back in the nest to be sat upon by his Mum and adult big Sister. Now we shall wait and see what happens.

Good morning sweetie.
There are many many eggs, in Elana's chicken farm, lol.
I have one Communal Easter basket with a million eggs in it. It is being presided over by a combo of Socies, Zebras, a Diamond Sparrow, and occasionally by my Cutthroat male
Nothing hatching in that one.
Another Easter basket is sat upon by my widowed male Zebra, and occasionally by a young gray female, who keeps adding to the collection of eggs.
Yet another basket, is what I call the Public Emergency Overflow Basket. Ths is the basket you go to when you have an egg ready to drop, and no one will let you into an occupied nest. The eggs in there never get sat upon by anyone for whatever the reason.
Then there is Squipper's nest ( an open cup Canary style nest).
Now this one is an interesting situation altogether.
This tiny nest, was taken up by an old time bonded Zebra couple, who have raised clutches before. They mated, laid eggs, but nothing hatched. I even threw some Gouldian eggs in there (that someone laid on a flight floor
) and they sat on them diligently, but nothing hatched.
Then some of the eggs got tossed (empties). An adult daughter of this pair (another white), joined the nest. I guess they figured that they needed more butt power, but still nothing. Some more eggs got tossed (empties again). I tossed in another five pretty pink Gouldian eggs , and down they sat to incubate them.
And now here is Number One Squipper (obviously a gray Zebra infant), which must of hatched sometime yesterday. He appears to be healthy enough, but had a completely empty-empty crop this morning, so empty in fact that he wouldn't have lasted for another hour without a feed. He was already lethargic and starting to get that dried out look about him.
Soooo, I don't know what has gotten into these crazy Zebbies of mine, but I don't like it

Re: # 1 Fuzzy Squiper
Hello All,
I had a few appointments today so didn't have time to check on the little guy for several hours.
When I got home, I found that the silly buggers had tossed him out of the nest. There he was, the poor wee thing, laying in the tray under the cage. Don't ask me how they managed that, seeing as I cover the bars at the bottom with newspapers.
Snatching him up, I felt that he was cold, but the little darling lifted his head and opened his mouth in mute supplication.
Cursing the idiot parents and sister out roundly, I took him to the kitchen and gave him a little meal and warmed him up.
Back in the birdroom, I decided to check under all the Society butts in the Easter basket as an option. Amids all the eggs, I found a tiny dead hatchling, that must have hatched too early, or was pulled out of an egg somehow. Had to almost wrestle the darn sillies off of him.
Once I removed him, I placed Number 1 Squip in the nest instead. Moments later the Society butts decended upon him to keep him warm.
Now the question is, will they feed him or not(?)
Will have to check every couple of hours.

Hope they feed the poor thing Elana.
My Apollo and his girls have just hatched four little peepers. The girls will jump out if I tap the nest but Apollo holds his ground. In order to see the babies I actually have to briefly scoop him up with my fingers and peek underneath, and he still won't jump off the nest. He's not afraid and will not budge when there are babies to protect.

Hi Dylan,
Yea, they are very protective of the babies, one actually bit me, lol.
I checked on #1 Squip alittle while ago (had a chance to pet the Socies, before they got off the nest). He was warm and lively, and appeared to have some food in his crop, just not sure if it was from where I fed him previously, or if they fed him too.
I'll check on him again soon, before lights out.
P.S.
By the way, congratulations on the new tiny tots

I don't know yet, everyone is still fast asleep over here (we are 2 hours behind you).
He was still alive last night, but I don't like his breathing.....
Poor tiny fellow, trying so hard to live.

I really hope he makes it too, but there is no way of knowing at this point.
As mentioned above, I don't like his breathing and that worries me.

# 1 Squipper, is still with us Aunty Babs, but I'm worried about him.
The Socies, are not feeding, and he seems lethargic and weak, and I really don't like his breathing.....
This is day 3 by my count, and although he accepts his food, he is not begging at all, hardly holding his head up, sigh
Those darn Socies.... you'd think they'd be thrilled to have a baby to feed, but they just sit on him like silly lumps
