Juv molt finished

Post by a_gouldian » Tue Apr 11, 2017 11:03 am

Three of our first ever male juvenile Gouldians have finished their juvenile molt. This is a pic of one of them. He is five months old in this pic. There were 4 males in the first clutch. Three of them molted faster than the fourth. The fourth one will take another 4-8 weeks to finish molting.

Wow.... medal winning for sure... look at those colours. He is the prime example why Gouldians are so popular

Awesome bird! He's even got that red line separating his purple breast from the yellow, which is highly sought after for shows.

I had no idea about that red line being desirable. I will have to check the other birds to see if they have it.

Yes; it tends to go hand in hand with a more intense yellow color, which is also desirable. And it's also somewhat rare now, so try to keep a few in the breeding stock if you ever plan to show.
