Eggs about to hatch?
I was trying to clean off a perch and mom and dad flew out of the nest so I took some quick photos. Today is the earliest possible hatch date but I don't see anything going on. Can you tell anything by looking at this photo as to whether or not these eggs look like they're fertile?

I see at least three with good potential.
Don't forget to leave a bath with clean water inside the cage, so the parents can bring humidity to the eggs, helping the chicks to hatch.
Good luck.

For my education, is it the three darker ones in the middle? The two on the left look like a definite no. the middle one in front has a big air pocket. I'm counting that as one of the three in the 'middle'.
They have constant bath water and I change it 2 or 3 times a day.
Thanks for your assistance. This is my first clutch.

Precisely!
When near hatching the good eggs will have a dark white color almost greyish.
Yellow or brown is not good.

We're down to the count down...
This is an eggciting time, will they hatch, how many will hatch, what will the babies look like, will the parents feed them ??????
I noticed you have a pink ribbon in there, are you hoping for girls then?

The white one on the lower left actually looks very close. And the one straight across from it is pipping (or it may be a shadow) See the dent sticking up? I see one more viable (possible).
The yellowish eggs look like DIS to me.
Are my eyes tricking me or there one egg pipping? (should be hatched as I type this).

I wish I had a nest I could see into! I hear some tiny cheep cheeps coming from the nest but cant look in! These are my Gouldians. The eggs were due to hatch around the same time as Millenias. Im not even sure how many eggs will laid.
So hard to be patient!

Still no babies. I took another photo but still see no signs.
The pink ribbons are pink pieces of paper that were inside an old parrot toy I stuck in there. They make it look like an Easter basket.

Re: Eggs about to hatch?
Still nothing. I'm thinking this clutch isn't going to happen. Oh well. I'm sure they'll enjoy going outside with the rest of the finch kids once they finally abandon these eggs. My little family is growing anyway since my son bought me a bronze winged manikin and a pintail whydah, both males, for Mother's Day. I now have 5 species of finch, 7 total. This only means I must attend the next bird fair and try to even up my numbers.
The manikin and the whydah are both interesting little birds.

Sorry to hear that Millenia - I was thinking our babies would have the same birthdays. But on a happy note congratulations on our new birds.

Oh boy. The whydah male.
He's going to create quite a commotion from what I have read in a small aviary.
Keep an eye on his aggression when he has his tail feathers. they are however, very handsome.

I've read up on it some and watched some videos. My outside aviary is about 10 feet in diameter and about 10 feet tall in the middle so I'm hoping he'll be fine. Actually the little manikin is the scrapper. He's half their size and has twice their spunk.
I think he bought them because they were in a cage together at the pet store. Probably because they were both obnoxious. The whydah sure sings pretty and he does some aerial acrobatics. He doesn't have his feathers so is quite docile right now.
