Full Circle - New Gouldain pair, new chicks

Post by a_gouldian » Mon May 29, 2017 7:06 pm

A year ago in Feb. we started breeding finches with our first pair of Black-headed, purple breasted Gouldians. That pair tossed chicks and we never got any youngsters from them. Last Fall we got a new pair of Red-headed Gouldians and we have 7 beautiful weaned youngsters from them.

We received two more pairs of Gouldians from another breeder 6 weeks ago. One of the pairs was Black-headed, purple breasted and they have 3 chicks that are 16 days old and doing well. They should fledge next week. They started laying eggs two weeks after we received them and are the greatest parents, so far. Feels like we have gone full circle now.

As they would say in ~"The Lion King" ~ "The circle of life..." :D

It is true, because we get to see multi generations grow up, mature, pair up, raise families of their own, and sadly ultimately grow old and die, with their children and grandchildren carrying on their bloodlines.
