I have babies-Photos added

Post by FINCHIE » Sat Oct 11, 2008 5:08 am

Well after thinking I could have potentially had either Blue Faced Parrot finche babies, or Shaft-tail babies on their way...I end up with 2 surprise PLUM HEADED babies...and Blue Faced babies that look way too big to still be in the nest... These are my first babies and am wondering about what I am going to do with them all...They are very very cute and will try and get some photos up...

Also where is the best place to trade birds? I dont want to speak to soon but I am hearing more and more baby cries from the corners of my aviary and everyone is nesting. Soon I will have an over load and want to know the best places to give them away?

Im in Sydney Australia...

Thats good news, its just I dont want to over crowd the aviary...It was a complete shock though. Suddenly I had little amatuer Plum Heads flying around hitting the edges trying to get their bearings....very funny and so exciting!

Addicted to Finches, yes I do admit it.
I pray they never find a cure.

Wow, wish I could make a trip to syd. I'd ease your overcrowding prob a bit. I reckon you will be able to get rid of them easy enough. You could advertise in the local paper and that way you would be able to screen the people who come to buy. I take any baby animals I end up with to my local pet shop cause the people who own it are brilliant and make sure people can look after things b4 they make the sale.

Congrats on all the babies and good luck with rehoming them.

New baby photos

Post by FINCHIE » Thu Oct 16, 2008 6:33 pm

Here are some of the babies. The Parrot Finch is my eldest of three. The others are the Plum Headed Finches. They are getting really big. I took these this morning and since then two female parrot finches have started nest building again. How do I make them stop...

How do I get my parrots to START? It looks like you have a nice setup - congrats! If you want to bring them over to Virginia I'll take them! Folks here in the States are searching for blue face parrots, and I've seen VERY few plum heads, and you're trying to figure out how to get rid of them!
