Hello One And All

Let me introduce Bubba, the one and the only

Mr Bubba, 'finally' decided to fledge today.
When I noticed him busily hopping around the flight floor, I snapped him up to band him.

Now I might be a nut job, but whenever I take out these little ones to check them and band them, I always drop a little kiss on top of their fuzzy heads (yea, I know ). Anywaaay, I popped a tiny smooch on his fat head, and he bit me right on the lip.

I was so surprised, that I almost dropped him on the floor.
I glared at him, and he glared right back (the little poop head) beak open and ready for more action.

As I struggled to band this biting, chirping little monster, he was busy chomping and chewing on my hand, making chirpy-growly noises deep in his throat.

This is one scary dude, and I hope he fits in with the rest of the crew without taking anyone out before he's a week out of the nest

no, i meant that his head is spherical, and not flat on the top, a really nice shape, usually desirable in standard birds.

I've been bit more than once also. The first time was surprising, the ones after that, I grimace and take it. And some keep biting, till you let them go in the cage. Luckily gouldians, zebras and societies, even adult, do not bite HARD.

Then for heaven's sakes don't get a Lovebird.

Those darn things, bite right through the skin, and lock their jaws like a bloody Bulldog. It feels like some one punching a nail right through you.

This gosh darn Bubba fledged today.

Last I saw him, he was sitting in the egg tray looking around with a vengefull glare.

You got that big ole friend you call for "everything'? Helping you move, fixing the pest problem, always got the perfect tool for repairs in his truck, wears a camo hat everyday, isn't shy about asking where the beer is at and will eat all your food but lovable as hell? THATS a Bubba ;)
