Java nest idea

Post by javajerry » Tue Aug 01, 2017 8:47 am

I recently acquired a nice flock of Java finches. I am wondering if anyone has ever used a nest such as this one made from a plastic bucket? Thoughts? I will add a perch. Hope to hear from other java lovers!

javajerry

That's a neat idea.

Although my Javas are not breeding, I have used sturdy cardboard boxes as nest boxes for other finch species.

The little bucket is cool. Where did you find one that size?

javajerry I have no experience with Java finches, but I do like that bucket nest. It will be interesting to see if the birds like it as well.

Welcome to the forum! There's lots of good reading at www.finchinfo.com, where you will find many articles on finch care. Since you are in the north Texas area, you might be interested in the Fort Worth Bird Club. We meet the second Sunday of each month at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, from 2pm to 4pm. It would be a chance to meet some other bird lovers. Our program for August is a presentation of one of our members on wild birding.
