I keep being told that my pearl grey should be bred with a Euro or a female pearl but I feel bad separating his mate as they have been together long and had very good chicks also she has massive wings really big for finches they are more like budgie size which have successfully passed into all the chicks.

Suggestions I only do this for a little hobby so should I leave them be as I would have to take her to the pet shop aswell

It's all up to you. The Euro selfs are uncommon compared to the pied, so breeding more selfs may contribute more to aviculture.

Your female looks like a single-factor pied (less white), so around 50% of their offspring should still be selfs.

Since they are societies, you could even get a self female and keep them as a trio. Most societies aren't aggressive, so adding another female could allow you to keep the original pair together while getting more selfs. If he mates with both of them, around 75% of his offspring should be selfs. If space is an issue, toss eggs until you only have the amount you can accommodate.

If your societies are more aggressive toward lone birds, you could get two more female selfs. The new females will likely pair up, but the male should still mate with both of them. In this case, around 5/6 of the offspring should be selfs.

European selfs tend to be more reluctant to breed, so the percentage of self offspring may be quite a bit lower than predicted.

Be sure to quarantine any new arrivals.

Okay thanks for the information I think the only options I will consider is to bring a new female in but if my agreesive pearl attacks here I will have to get rid as he even attacks zebras a lot he's a naughty society

I wouldn't presume to advise you on this.
But, if you formulated a strategy the answer should be evident to you. Do you want to breed a number of chicks with various phenotypes and genotypes or create separate lines of genetically 'pure' selfs and/or another of the pearls [or pieds or whatever name applies]?

The latter option would mean picking up a genetically and phenotypically suitable mate for one or both of your birds.

Well in there first clutch they was three brown pieds and one black pearl random right then the second they was two browns
