Wanted to bring in a new society finch to my other two which are incubating eggs

would not introduce a new bird into an established cage especially a pair breeding.... you should quarantine the new bird for at least 90 days... some viruses and illness can be carried by a bird for more up to 90 days or more.

yes.... birds can pick up pathogens, viruses, be exposed to other sick birds... always best to quarantine.
