Breeding season

Post by rsrj317 » Wed Sep 06, 2017 10:26 am

Is there a specific season for breeding. I had two clutches during the hotest part of our summer and don't want anymore for the year. I have removed all boxes even my cockatiels, not that she ever used it, but the zebras were fighting over who got to make a nest in it. Removed all hay too. Is this right or wrong.

I am new to the hobby and new to the forum. I have 12 finches now and various types, i bought a nesting box on my cage and added nesting material to the cage, they use the regular nests but seemed to be busy when the nesting box went in. The nesting material is nearly gone and I peaked into the box last night to see what had been happening, thinking that they were just doing their bird thing but there was an egg in there. All the different types have been in and out and no one seems to be laying claim on the egg. As a matter of fact none of them are sitting on it. Is this normal? Is there something I should be doing to help it? keep it warm etc? should I leave it alone and let it be and if it doesn't hatch don't worry about it? I don't want to mess with it and have them abandon it either
