I have a new pair of Lavenders that I ordered and requested male and female. I've heard they are difficult to sex. One is larger than the other. The smaller one sings -- the other not really. Any ideas?
Thanks

Dbearden - Hi, I also have a pair of lavenders (got them last year) and found the video I will attach as a link very helpful. In the first 30 seconds or so you can hear the typical male call.
Where do you live? Do you have them in an outdoor aviary or in a cage in the house? By themselves or with other species?
Enjoy them, they are lovely little birds.

I didn't hear my lavender sing (he sang for his previous owner) until I played this video in the evening.

Thank you! They currently in a cage due to being quarantined for the first 30 days -- just got them, and will go into the outdoor aviary. I have pairs of Goldbreasted, Red Cheek Cordeon Blue, Star, Redbilled, Gouldian and Black/White Manikin
All get along well.
